The ‘heart of healthcare’ has arrived in Bayside Melbourne, with the opening of Harnett Clinic Seaford. This project was an interesting one for Eagleheart, with the site previously occupied as a retail bank, requiring conversion to a medical space.

The 310sqm space at 2 Hartnett Drive Seaford, has been successfully stripped out and repurposed into a general practice clinic by the team at Eagleheart.

The property was purchased in late 2022 by four Doctors and joint business partners: Dr Shu Min Chin, Dr Ali Nguyen, Dr Emmanuel Anthony and Dr Cheryl Oh. The group of doctors decided on the property based on its size and condition, high traffic location, its corner site exposure, and the fact that it had ample onsite and off-street parking for patients.

The practice is conveniently located on the verge of a residential area and caters to patients in Seaford and surrounding suburbs. The four doctors have established their first clinic with the vision to:

“Provide the level of healthcare that they would expect for themselves and their families. That is personalised and holistic care for patients, to help them maintain a healthy and happy life.” – Dr. Ali Nguyen

The doctors reached out to Eagleheart in 2023, after undertaking a walk-through of one of our recently completed GP clinics. Impressed by the quality of the design and fitout, they engaged Eagleheart to manage the whole project from end-to-end. This included town planning, retail to medical change of use, building permits, full design and construction documentation, internal demolition, and the complete fitout of the medical space.

The medical practice typically caters to families with a number of the doctors specialising in paediatric care. The design was inspired by Scandinavian principles with oak timbers and neutral tones used throughout, to create a clinic that felt warm and welcoming for their patients. The use of turquoise as a feature, links to the bay and ties in with their corporate branding.  The GP clinic includes:

• An expansive reception and waiting area
• Children’s corner
• Eight consulting rooms
• On-site pathology
• Two-bed treatment room
• Nurses room
• Dedicated meeting room
• Administration area
• Practice Manager’s office
• Staff kitchen and amenities

The floor plan design was created to capitalise on the positioning of expansive floor to ceiling windows in the waiting area, capturing the warmth and tranquillity from the morning sun.

Hartnett Clinic Seaford also provide training and support for young and future GP’s joining the profession, through their teaching connections. They are the only clinic in Victoria where ALL their GPs have undertaken additional training specifically in the management of doctors’ health.
