Women’s Ultrasound Melbourne (WUMe) is a specialist Obstetric and Gynaecological ultrasound clinic operating from four sites across Melbourne. Their existing clinic in Parkville was recently renovated by the team at Eagleheart Health Spaces. The ultrasound and consulting suites are situated at Frances Perry House, a private women’s hospital on the site of the Royal Women’s General Hospital.
Eagleheart was engaged by the WUMe Board. Our team completed the internal demolition of their existing clinic, and designed and constructed a modern, patient-friendly, workable space. The floorplan was redesigned with a focus on workflow and improving acoustics within the space, to improve efficiency and privacy for staff, doctors, and patients.
The ultrasound clinic now features an expansive, welcoming reception area and a comfortable, spacious waiting room. The back-of-house facilities include a staff kitchen and a practice manager’s office that improves overall operation of the clinic. There are multiple purpose-built ultrasound rooms, a dedicated changing area, and a quiet room for one-on-one patient discussions.
The site being located within an extremely busy hospital environment raised some interesting challenges for our project team. The timing and process for demolition and fitout required meticulous planning to ensure it aligned with the hospital’s requirements and to keep the clinic downtime to a minimum. In addition to this, the project was a sealed site for infection control, that required noise, access and containment protocols to be strictly adhered to throughout the construction period.
The Parkville site of Women’s Ultrasound Melbourne has been transformed into a warm and welcoming space that enhances patient privacy and comfort. This project highlights the role of thoughtful design and construction that ensures that the clinic will continue to provide high-quality care in an efficient and inviting space.
“Eagleheart managed the entire project, liaising with facilities management and contractors on our behalf. The project was kept within our budget and timeframe, and the space looks terrific.
Eagleheart have really transformed the environment from what it was, and our patients, staff and doctors are extremely pleased with the outcome!”
