Radiology Clinic Fitout in Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs
Eagleheart Health Spaces recently completed the construction and fitout of Lumus Imaging Glenroy, transforming the former Glenroy Library into a state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging clinic in Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
On this project, the Eagleheart team worked to Lumus Imaging’s interior style direction and guidelines, to ensure branding and visual consistency across their clinics. Our team has delivered a highly functional healthcare environment that balances advanced clinical requirements with a welcoming patient experience.
Spanning 750sqm, the project demonstrates how modern radiology infrastructure can be successfully integrated within a heritage building while preserving its architectural character and supporting the demands of a contemporary medical imaging facility.
Delivering a Complex Healthcare Fitout Within a Heritage Building
Constructing a modern radiology clinic within an existing heritage-overlay building presented several construction and engineering challenges. The project required close coordination between Lumus Imaging, Eagleheart’s project and construction teams, and modality providers.
One of the most significant challenges involved upgrading the existing concrete slab, which was not originally designed to support modern diagnostic imaging equipment. Structural modifications were carefully executed by our construction team to accommodate the weight, structural and shielding requirements of the modality equipment, while maintaining the integrity of the building.
Located within a residential area, the project also required careful planning to minimise noise and disruption to neighbouring apartments throughout construction.
The result is a healthcare facility that meets the technical requirements of modern diagnostic imaging while preserving the character of the original building.
Built to Support Patient Experience and Clinical Performance
Constructed in accordance with Lumus Imaging’s design vision and brand standards, the completed clinic combines contemporary healthcare aesthetics with practical operational functionality.
Soft neutral finishes, warm timber-look flooring, integrated lighting and clean architectural detailing create a calm and welcoming environment for patients. Waiting areas feature comfortable seating and feature lighting, while custom graphics, nature-inspired imagery and LED ceiling installations throughout imaging and treatment areas help reduce anxiety and create a more reassuring patient experience.
A Medical Imaging Facility Designed for Operational Efficiency
The facility was constructed to support efficient clinical workflows and day-to-day operations, with features including:
- Clear separation between public and staff-only areas
- Dedicated imaging suites for each modality
- Wide corridors that support patient flow and supervision, wheelchairs and hospital stretchers.
- Integrated storage and joinery solutions
- Durable healthcare-grade finishes throughout
The layout enables patients, clinicians and support staff to move efficiently throughout the facility while maintaining privacy, accessibility and operational performance.
Advanced Diagnostic Imaging Facilities
Lumus Imaging Glenroy expands access to diagnostic imaging services across Melbourne’s northern suburbs, including MRI capabilities for the local community and surrounding healthcare network. The completed facility includes:
- MRI suite, control room and cannulation area
- CT suite and control room
- Multiple X-ray rooms and OPG imaging
- DEXA scanning room
- Four ultrasound rooms with dedicated waiting area
- Mammography suite
- Treatment and recovery bays
- Reporting rooms
- Administration and staff facilities
The clinic also supports overflow imaging demand from nearby public and private hospitals, strengthening access to essential diagnostic healthcare services across the region.
Specialist Healthcare Construction for Diagnostic Imaging Environments
Lumus Imaging Glenroy demonstrates Eagleheart’s expertise in delivering complex healthcare construction and medical fitout projects.
By successfully integrating advanced radiology infrastructure within a heritage building, the project showcases the importance of specialist healthcare construction knowledge, technical coordination and meticulous project delivery. The completed facility provides a durable, high-performing healthcare environment that supports patients, clinicians and staff while meeting the operational requirements of a modern diagnostic imaging practice.
