Welcome to Doctors of South Melbourne, the shiny new clinic designed and built by Eagleheart. The team completed the internal fitout of the 100-year-old building, located next door to the client’s existing medical practice. The GP clinic opened to patients in early 2022.

Eagleheart worked with the client to establish the design for their new space. It focused heavily on workflow to help GPs and staff function as efficiently and effectively as possible. The reception area features an oversized natural stone reception desk, providing the reception team with ample space to work… and allows patients to be greeted and triaged with ease. The treatment room is second to none and allows the nurses and GPs to conduct their examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures in a comfortable, fit for purpose space.

The project wasn’t without its challenges that come with the unknown of working with an old building. The GP clinic is positioned across two floors, with the upstairs accessible via the beautifully crafted staircase or the stunning glass lift. The lift opens to a second waiting area, which features open ceilings and exposed rafters, a deliberate choice to help retain the heritage of the old building. The five consultation rooms are on this level.

The GPs and staff have the luxury of enjoying all the mod-cons in the private kitchen along with end of trip facilities, that includes bike racks, lockers, and a shower room. A standout for the space is the sunny upstairs waiting room, which offers patients picturesque views of South Melbourne in the distance.
