For this project, the Eagleheart team worked to Lumus Imaging’s interior style direction and guidelines, to ensure branding and visual consistency across their clinics. Our team delivered a highly functional healthcare environment that balances advanced clinical requirements with a welcoming patient experience.
Spanning 750sqm, the project demonstrates how modern radiology infrastructure can be successfully integrated within a heritage building while preserving its architectural character and supporting the demands of a contemporary medical imaging facility.
Delivering a Complex Healthcare Fitout Within a Heritage Building
Constructing a modern radiology clinic within an existing heritage-overlay building presented several construction and engineering challenges. The project required close coordination between Lumus Imaging, Eagleheart’s project and construction teams, and modality providers.
One of the most significant challenges involved upgrading the existing concrete slab, which was not originally designed to support modern diagnostic imaging equipment. Structural modifications were carefully executed by our construction team to accommodate the weight, structural and shielding requirements of the modality equipment, while maintaining the integrity of the building.
A Medical Imaging Facility Designed for Operational Efficiency
The facility was constructed to support efficient clinical workflows and day-to-day operations, with features including:
- Clear separation between public and staff-only areas
- Dedicated imaging suites for each modality
- Wide corridors that support patient flow and supervision, wheelchairs and hospital stretchers.
- Integrated storage and joinery solutions
- Durable healthcare-grade finishes throughout
The layout enables patients, clinicians and support staff to move efficiently throughout the facility while maintaining privacy, accessibility and operational performance.
About Lumus Imaging
Lumus Imaging operates a national network of more than 150 imaging centres across metropolitan, regional and hospital-based locations throughout Australia. For more than 30 years, Lumus has provided diagnostic imaging services across a broad range of modalities, including MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine and PET imaging.
The Glenroy clinic represents another important investment in strengthening healthcare access for Melbourne’s northern communities through contemporary, patient-focused diagnostic imaging services.
The result is a healthcare facility that meets the technical requirements of modern diagnostic imaging while preserving the character of the original building.
