For Directors Scott Holden and Anh My Tran, setting up their own radiology clinic was something they had always aspired to do.

Their vision was to create a clinic with a difference, one that was not only functional, but aesthetically pleasing. They wanted to create a radiology practice that was truly focused on the needs and comfort of their patients.

Scott and Anh reached out to Eagleheart because of our expertise in designing and constructing medical spaces. Our team had recently completed a series of radiology projects in Melbourne, so our knowledge of building requirements specific to radiology, was of great value to them.

SCOPE FOR A NEW CLINIC

Eagleheart’s Director met Scott on-site for an obligation free property assessment. During the review the site was assessed in terms of its size, location and suitability for a radiology practice.

The site at Precise Radiology is located within the main retail precinct on Level 2 and situated next door to an extremely busy GP clinic. The anchor tenants included national retailers that help attract local shoppers and help drive foot traffic into the clinic.

The space itself was suitable to accommodate Precise Radiology’s immediate requirements, with the opportunity to expand or include supporting services, in coming years.

VISION FOR THE SPACE

Over a combined thirty years in the radiology industry, Scott and Anh wanted to ensure their state-of-the-art clinic put patient wellbeing first. It accommodates:

• A spacious, 4.9 metre marble reception desk with pendant lighting.
• A large banquette style waiting area that incorporates curves, scalloped paneling and dense greenery, bringing life into the space.
• Modern furniture and cushions for patient comfort.
• X-Ray room.
• CT machine.
• Ultrasound rooms.
• MRI equipment (pending).

Behind the aesthetics of the radiology fitout, Eagleheart undertook full project management on behalf of the client. This included site assessments, arranging all permits, building certificates, radiation testing for the CT and X-Ray machines, and obtaining the certificate of compliance.

It is important that compliance requirements are completely understood early on in project planning, otherwise the project can stall, lead to extensive delays and will likely result in costly outcomes. To meet compliance requirements at Precise Radiology the process included:

• Identifying that the flooring was engineered to take the weight of the imaging equipment.
• That access to level 2 could accommodate equipment delivery.
• The power supply was adequate to meet site requirements.

These requirements ensure the safety of patients, staff, adjoining businesses and the general public.

INSPIRATION BEHIND THE DESIGN

Making the best use of the available space, was at the forefront of the design. The floorplan at Precise Radiology needed to accommodate not only the needs of the clinic today but provide a solid foundation for expansion in the years to come.

Aesthetically, the brief ‘to provide a warm and tranquil space’ was met through careful colour selection, soft lighting, and use of textured materials to promote a sense of calm. The large reception and banquette style seating, provides the necessary space and privacy for patients.

Eagleheart designs and constructs medical fitout projects with an environmental focus in mind. This begins with a clever floorplan design, and selecting sustainable materials from local suppliers that operate under the same values.

Suppliers who:

• Undertake responsible sourcing and put quality first.
• Reuse and recycle materials, where practical.
• Dispose of waste in a responsible and sustainable way.

THE PROJECT OUTCOME

In April 2022, Precise Radiology opened their new imaging clinic at Level 2, 2-20 Koornang Road, Carnegie in Victoria. Since then, Scott and Anh have been actively working with general practice clinics helping to speed up wait times for those in most need of an appointment.

Patients living and working in Melbourne’s inner-eastern suburbs now have a new, comfortable space to have their scans, and most importantly, are greeted by a professional and friendly team.
